Grant Edwards
Metro East Lutheran soccer
A senior attacking midfielder, Edwards is second in the area in scoring with 29 goals and seven assists in 22 games. In his last two games, he had five goals and one assist against Wood River and one goal in the Knights' 2-0 regional semifinal win over Breese Central. Edwards was named all-sectional in soccer last season.


David Everett


Westminster cross country
A junior, Everett won the Borgia Invitational by covering the muddy course at Big Driver in 17 minutes 37 seconds. Also this season, Everett finished second at the First Capitol Invitational, fourth at the Ladue Invitational and 14th at Kansas University's Rim Rock Invitational. His best time this season (16:06.96) is among the area's best. Last season, Everett finished 24th in Class 3, earning all-state honors.


Krista Menghini
St. Joseph's volleyball, cross country
A junior, Menghini achieved a rare feat, excelling in two sports the same day last Thursday. She finished second in the MWAA cross country meet during the afternoon and helped the volleyball team capture the conference championship with 18 assists against Nerinx Hall that evening. Menghini is second in the area in assists with 10.39 a game. She has made an oral commitment to play volleyball at SIU-Carbondale.


Courtney Molton
East St. Louis football
In the Flyers' 63-6 victory over Collinsville, Molton, a 5-foot-9, 180-pound senior running back, had 17 carries for 375 yards and five touchdown runs (60, 1, 50, 68, 36). He also had a 64-yard TD catch. Molton is averaging over 11 yards a carry and is among area leaders in rushing yards (1,719) and TDs (24).


Joe Plassmeyer
Oakville football
In the Tigers' 42-0 win over Northwest, Plassmeyer, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound senior quarterback, connected on 22 of 33 passes for 306 yards and touchdown strikes of 3 and 5 yards. Overall, he has passed for 1,377 yards and six TDs this season.


Steven Souchek
Gibault golf
A junior, Souchek rallied on the final nine holes to tie for second in the Illinois Class 1A individual boys golf tournament at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington. After ending day one 5 strokes from the top, Souchek had the best round of day two, an even-par 72 for a two-day total of 148, 4 strokes behind the winner. During the regular season, Souchek won the Nashville Invitational and the Marquette All-Catholic tournament. He was a medalist in 10 of 18 matches.


Michael You
Ladue swimming
A senior, You helped the Rams capture the team title at the Lindbergh Invitational by winning two events. He finished first in the 200 IM (2:04.84) and the 100 breast (1:06.26). You's best times this season in the 200 IM (2:04.84) and 100 breast (1:04.62) place him among the area leaders. At state last year, he took 29th in the 200 IM (2:06.20) and 28th in the 100 breast (1:05.03).
