Freeburg golfers Taylor Koeller and Abby Bergkoetter were the only two locals on Tuesday to advance to the girls Illinois Class A individual state tournament.

Koeller, a junior, carded a 92, while Bergkoetter shot a 98 at the Anna Sectional over the 5,133-yard, par-72 Union County Country Club course. Both will play at Crab Orchard Golf Club in Carterville Friday and Saturday.

On Monday, Roxana's Jered Hogan became the school's first sectional champion at the boys Class 1A Havana Sectional at Shambolee Golf Course shooting a 2-over par 74 over the 6,748-yard, par 72 course.

Hogan, along with Brett Guthrie (79) of Piasa Southwestern and Danny Selby (79) of Alton Marquette, will play Friday and Saturday in the individual state tournament at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington.
